Pauline E (née Scott) Harrison born in King’s Lynn 11/11/1936. Pauline’s father, Cecil Joseph Scott (1909-1983) first worked as a ‘clerk’ and later as ‘Chief Accountant Clerk Duties Land Drainage’. The 1939 Register shows him living at 68 Riverside Gaywood, Kings Lynn. He married Pauline’s mother Ena Esmé Potter (20/10/1909-2001) in 1933 – at which time both sets of Pauline’s grandparents are recorded as being ‘grocers’ and ‘green grocers’. The 1939 Register records Pauline’s mother’s occupation as ‘unpaid domestic’ and Pauline recounts how her mother also worked part time in various fashion/clothing shops in King’s Lynn and later, London. Pauline had a younger sister. As a young woman Pauline was involved with the John Tiller School of Dancing and worked as a professional dancer in the Tiller Girls dance troupe (1953-5), she danced professionally 1953-1968. She started filmmaking when a dance troupe she was working with went on tour in Asia. She captured her trip to Japan and Thailand on a new Canon camera that she had purchased while in Japan, on the advice of her father (by letter) and travel companions. During the 1960s Pauline lived with her parents near London and during that decade also lived for a time in Amsterdam (referenced in North West Film Archive’s RR 2331 45 and also mentioned in the interview with her in 2010). She and her parents moved to Hoylake in1966 when her parents bought a business there. She was involved with the cine arm of the Hoylake Photographic Society 1968-1973. She married Brian Webster Harrison (1939-2000) in 23 March 1973 in the Wirral, at which time she moved to Preston and started her involvement with the Preston Cine Club, later the Preston Cine and Camcorder Club.
