"Born in Poland, Mr. Lester served in the Polish Army in World War I and came to the United States in 1921. He studied at the Universities of Moscow and Warsaw, City College and Columbia University. He became a United States citizen in 1928; In World War II, he served in the Coast Guard. Mr. Lester was the first president of the Miniature Camera Club and a founding member of the Circle of Confusion. He wrote widely on photography and was a judge at photographic salons."
